My Never Ending List

Should boys be allowed to wear dresses? What if the boy got the dress from the dress-up center at school? The dress in question reminds the boy of “tigers, the sun and his mother’s hair.” I know that this book will cause some people to think twice and that’s perfect. Wearing this dress, Morris likes the way the dress makes the “swish, swish, swish” and the “crinkle, crinkle, crinkle” sound but he also likes all the different clicky shoes that accompany the dress that he can also wear.   All week the kids at school give Morris a hard time for wearing the dress and by the end of the week, Morris starts to complain of a stomachache. Morris is a tough kid but these kids at school just don’t leave him alone. After spending the weekend with his mother, Morris begins to feel better and on Monday morning he begins school with a different outlook on life. This is a great diverse book that could open up some great discussions about many different topics. I enjoyed the different types of illustrations that accompanied the book and the illustrators twist on the dress which was wonderfully and creatively thought out.   The illustrations spoke volumes in both their simplicity and the facial expressions on the characters.
