My Never Ending List

Everything, Everything

— feeling excited
Everything, Everything - Nicola Yoon

I should have seen this one coming, really I should have. It’s a wonderful, beautiful, fantastic story. A tender, sweet, ahh story that will sweep you off your feet and the innocence of it all is what swooned me. Madeline is a teen who lives in her airtight home because of a rare disease that she has. She is not allowed outside as the toxics of anything could kill her. Her mom and her nurse are her world and the tutors who home school her. As new neighbors move in next door, her world is turned upside down as their drama pulls at her heartstrings and she notices the goings on outside her walls. Olly pops over with his mother’s indestructible Bundt cake which is immediately denied as the unknown factors of this cake might harm Madeline. Olly curiosity toward Madeline is dismissed by her mother, which leaves Olly more curious and determined to find out more about her, the girl in the upstairs window. Olly’s papers in his bedroom window start their relationship, their IMing seals their friendship and I know that they have something special as their chatting allows them to be open and honest with each other. Madeline sees the world that Olly lives in, the fear that surrounds most of his family members and she’s there for him. Olly, he’s there for Madeline not for sympathy but because enjoys her company. I’m smiling and laughing, enjoying their conversation, this relationship which has no contact and it feels so easy between them, as if they have been friends for years. Maddy wants to push the issue; she wants to see Olly, up close. No touching, for she knows to do so might cause her death but as they meet, the pressure is just too much. I’m squirmy in my seat, for how much could I take if I was in her shoes? Her first close experience with a male, an attractive one at that and all the hormones are kicking in and it’s bad, real bad. There is no turning back, I read this novel all the way through and it was everything, I was hoping for and more. The ending was fantastic and I was beaming. If you like hope, romance and temptation, you really need to read this otherwise, just read it …..it’s a keeper.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Delacorte Press in exchange for an honest review
