Decisions, decisions, decisions. I really felt sorry for Anika in Anatomy of a Misfit as she was so confused on so many different issues; I wondered if she really knew who she was. She lets her “friends” walk all over her, she can’t choose between which guy she should go out with, and when she starts to lead she can’t follow through with it. Her two best friends are not what I would call a best friend when they are in competition with one another and they threaten her. Anika knows she can’t tell Shelli anything as she will spew like a faucet under pressure and Becky, ah Becky she is in her own little class by herself. Who needs a friend who calls you “immigrant” or someone you fear will slaughter you if you go against something they say? Someone needed to push that girl off her throne months ago. Logan, there’s a character that you can exam under a microscope. Logan’s family life is a balancing act, Logan sees it and it’s too much for any teen to handle. Logan likes Anika but the implication that brings to her life is devastating. Her social status will cease to exist if she is caught hanging out with him. Again, Anika can’t make a decision between Logan and Jared. Jared is every girl’s heartthrob. She likes him but she knows his reputation isn’t good. Jared had a taste of what Becky is all about and there is something about Anika that he adores. If she goes out with Jared, Becky will be mad and Becky will ruin Anika. Anika has fun with Logan, they sneak out and do the most trivial things but in their eyes its fun and its special. With Jared, all eyes are on them, she likes the attention but something is missing. I think the missing piece is Anika, she missing. She needs to stand up for herself and decide what she wants and be accountable for her decisions. Life is too short to be worried about what others think. Today is here and she needs to make the most of it as there are no do-over’s. Shelli and Anika think they can pull one over on their boss at work, it was Anika’s decision to lead the duo in this escapade. It sounded good, it always does in the beginning before reality sets in. Stand up Anika, what does it take?
