The night was intense and is something both Mia and Ethan will never forget. Frantically trying to piece the fragments of the evening together, they quickly gather up yesterday’s clothing which has been shattered around Ethan’s apartment, the two of them catching glances at one another. The thoughts that they have for each other are mirror reflections: lust, attraction and amazing top off the list. They are both late for their first day at their new jobs so they share a taxi and find themselves staring at the same door. The story is told in alternating chapters with Mia and Ethan each taking turns yet it is a continuous story as the characters fill us in on their emotions and their view of the situation. Inside the office of Boomerang they discover that they will be in competition with one another to get the only paid position that is being offered by the firm. That is not the only problem they have to contend with, they must also not be in any office relationships. This second stipulation is the biggest one the two have to deal with. They cannot stop thinking about each other and working within a few feet inches of each other is making it extremely difficult. They notice everything about each other from each other’s physical characteristics to the way they interact with others. They watched each other, they just cannot hold back. It’s the way the author stretches out these moments, placing them everywhere and not grouping them all together like a steamy romance that I enjoyed. This couple was consumed with each other but knew they had to hold back. Their temptation was so exciting and entertaining yet so unsettling. Ethan’s checkbook is dwindling but this is Mia’s dream job and there is only one paid position, the job goes to ……
