Truly, truly one amazing book! Sitting at the pool on vacation wearing my shades, I read this book. I know it probably is not considered fun to cry on vacation but if you consider reading a book as fantastic as this, I had an amazing time. I heard this was an excellent book but I did not expect it to grab me the way it did. Twelve-year old Emily is hit by a car while her mother is inside the house. Her single mom, Hannah hears the commotion and runs outside and like most mothers; her worse nightmare is materializing in front of her eyes. Rushed to the hospital, there is nothing they can do but make Emily comfortable. The hospital asks if Emily is organ donor something Hannah did not think she would have to decide for her twelve-year old daughter. Let me introduce Maddie. Maddie lives with her controlling father and her timid mother, Olivia. Maddie needs a new liver. I think you can see the handwriting on the wall on how these two families’ lives intersect but how they collide in the story is another matter. I was so drawn into this story that I read this whole book in one morning. Lunch had to wait and please don’t talk to me even though we are on vacation, the lives of Maddie, Hannah and Olivia are my major concerns right now. When Maddie’s father enters the picture, I got restless and I needed to get to the bottom of this story and fast. I would love to tell you more but I am afraid of giving too much of this spectacular story away. There are wonderful, happy moments in this story so don’t think I cried my way through the whole book. Sometimes I cried because I was so happy too (some people do that). I think I will be checking out Amy’s other books now. If you haven’t read this one, you should.
