This book is a hoot! What does your dog do when the lights go out? Sleep, dream, eat, or run around in the neighborhood? In this comical twist of a tale, a little red-head boy gets up a bit early to let his dog in and he notices his dog hopping out of a limousine. Yes, a stretch limousine wearing a tuxedo. He thought he had a normal brown, 4-legged dog but when he sees his dog walking on two legs looking fancy even dotting some shades he realizes that something is up. The next night he decides to follow his dog. Sneaking inside the doghouse he built in the backyard, the boy is totally surprised at the transformation that they dog has done on the place. You will not believe what this doghouse looks like. As the dog hops into the limo, the boy jumps onto his bicycle and chases after the car. The Dog House is where things are happening. Not just anyone can get inside and luckily his dog is The Boss and he lets the boy inside to take a look around. Ah, what a place! It’s a place where dogs can be dogs. It’s a classy and relaxing joint with lots of different dogs hanging out enjoying each other. As the boy and the dog talk, lots of activities are going on inside The Dog House. It’s a fun book with great pictures and the text is fun. Some of the text words are done in different script making it stand out and some of the text is bold and some has pictures drawn around it.
It’s a great book to read aloud and have further discussion about. I enjoy reading the text with all the different scripts. The story itself is fun and creative and uses a lot of imagination. It’s a really fun book for all elementary ages.
