My Never Ending List

Calgon, take me away.....Colleen, take me away.

Losing Hope - Colleen Hoover

I love Colleen Hoover’s writing. I love how she can take you somewhere so comfortable and give you such a warm feeling when you read the words that she has written across the pages.  The words seem to flow so effortlessly and they seep into the crevices of your being and you can’t seem to draw yourself away.  There is that fear that if you tear yourself away for just a moment, you will break that trance and reality will smack you back with vengeance with the pressures that you had escaped from the moment you picked up that book.  It was Slammed that got me hooked and I have since devoured her other writings but I am getting to wonder if I enjoy reading the other POV that she offers in her writings.  I do enjoy reading a guy’s point of view but to read the same story over again, I don’t know if I really enjoy doing that. I like the original story, the excitement , the tension and the newness of it all but the second time reading the story, I kinda feel like I know what about to happen so it loses some of its luster.  I do enjoy reading the characters emotions and thoughts which we don’t get to hear about in the original story but the whole Wow thing, just is not there for me.  This is what happened to me when I read Losing Hope.  This book is written through the eyes of Dean or Holder and we get to hear his emotions, his thoughts and his views of the story, Hopeless.  Oh, I loved Hopeless which was Sky’s story and it was a 5 star read for me.  In Losing Hope, Holder is searching for Hope, his childhood friend as there is a void in his life with her disappearance.  A tragic event in his life with his twin sister also left another void so Holder has a lot of issues to deal with.  Just when he thinks he sees someone matches her description, he realizes that this girl’s name is Sky.  Sky has issues that she is also dealing with and the two of them begin a friendship.  It seems that these two individuals make a great couple and as they talk, it opens up a whole new world.
