I’ve had enough; I had to actually pull out my bookmark. It’s not often I take this drastic measure but it was just too much for me, I quit. I really loved the cover of this novel and I loved Jesse’s first novel, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl but this book, was nothing like I hoped it to be. I just couldn’t get into the author’s writing and all the penis talk in the novel was just too strange for me. I must have put this novel down three times thinking it was my mood at that time but each time that I tried to continue reading it, it just wasn’t in the cards for me. The text felt choppy, the dialogue pointless and my attention, I didn’t like how everything seemed to be dragging. I was on page 113, over one-third of the way through and I just didn’t care what happened. Perhaps I will try again but right now, I hear a great novel calling my name.
