My Never Ending List

Hot Flash

Hot Flash - Kathy Carmichael I am in the middle of reading this book but I am enjoying it so far. Jill is trying to figure out the secrets of happy marriage (who doesn't)since she is just getting over a break-up and she doesn't want to enter into another relationship only to end in another heartache or another divorce. She has a son who is starting to apply to colleges and like most mothers she wants the best for her son and wants to find a man who can supply her the money she needs for her son's college education. Can she find the best for the both of them? Love for her and a college education for her son. Does she really need the man to be around 24 hours a day/7 days a week? How important is sex in this relationship if she can get a college education for her son? She sends out a survey to group of happy couples asking them the key to their happiness hoping their answers will lead her to her own happiness and what she gets leads Jill on a hunt for her own happiness.I loved one of Jill's surveys she received back: "The way my mother-in-law explained it to me is that it's a woman's job to make the decisions. It's also her responsibility to make her husband believe he is the one making the decision." Oh, yes...that is exactly how it is supposed to me. Some of Kathy's writing are really funny as she describes the situations and characters Jill meets on her journey to happiness. As Jill is scanning the room trying to locate this "hot" guy she mistakenly sees the wrong man. "..his shirt collar was open, revealing revealing enough hair to reforest Somalia. Either that or the squirrel had lost it's tail. All in all, he reminded me of a Minin-Me version of the abominable snowman- without the snow."We'll see how she makes out as I finish this.
