A handful of lives are intertwined in this story but the pieces don’t all fall into place until you are totally absorbed in the story that you have the a-ha moments that put all the players into their respected places and then the reader can’t wait to finish the book. Sixteen year-old Allison had everything going for her, great grades at school, athletic, good family but yet she still was missing something. Her sister Brynn looked up to Allison and she too is missing something important in her life. Claire and Jonathan finally get the child they have been waiting for and Joshua seems like the perfect addition to the family. The other main character in the book is Charm and she is dealing with her ailing stepfather and has to have adult responsibilities and remain strong. How are all these players connected? Allison commits a crime that tatters her perfect image and she is forced into prison. Her parents’ erase her from their minds but Brynn is reminded constantly of her perfect sister’s fall from grace as friends harass her and tease her of her sisters actions. Upon release from prison, Allison wants a new start, but who wants to help? Who can erase the harm she has committed and who can let go of the damage caused before she went in? This is truly an emotional read about the power of love, commitment and family.
