Flat-Out Love

Flat-Out Love - Jessica Park Left standing on the street with no one to turn to Julie feels alone yet alive. Leaving her home state of Ohio and embarking on the next stage of her life, she feels electrified and exhilarated to start college life in Boston. The Facebook apartment was a bust and with no other contacts at her disposal, she finds herself in the home of her mother’s college roommate, Erin Watkins. With warm and witty dialogue the relationship between the Watkins family and Julie flourishes and Julie finds herself, her new room for the school year in one of the bedrooms at their home. Matt, their middle son is a computer geek and also a college student yet he also has some issues that Julie finds captivating and puzzling. They build a relationship on friendship but a lot of their relationship is centered on Matt’s younger sister Celeste. Celeste is a junior in high school and has some issues of her own which Julie finds out immediately upon entering the household. Having her own family issues, which she tried to leave behind, Julie feels she can help Celeste and the family as they all seem to be dealing with something that no one wants to talk about. The love and the compassion that Julie embraces the family with and the love that you feel the Watkins family has welcomed her with made me love this book so much. I felt with pure emotions everything the characters were going through and I hoped the best for the characters when I finally came to the end of the book. I really hated for the book to end. This book is for mature readers as it contains mature subject matter for older teens and some language.
