I finally opened up the pages of John Steinbeck’s book and I was confused at first at how this book has been a classic for years. With only over a hundred pages, at first the relationship between George and Lennie didn’t seem to awaken my soul with any kind of revelations. As I read further the brotherhood between the two went more from just a man and his simple-minded friend running from town to town collecting their earning hoping for a better life. They were trying to catch a dream as much as everyone else was that they encountered. George cared for Lennie and tried to steer him in the right direction, but Lennie couldn’t help it that he loved to pet soft things. Anything soft. This temptation would get the men into some sticky situations but they were bound together and they would get out of them together. When they meet up with Crooks, Curley and Slim the relationship between the men expands and their dream was exposed. Friendships, dreams and reality all come a knocking but who is letting who in?
