3.5 stars.I did it! I actually finished the book when I thought about quitting about halfway through. Why quit? I guess I was so tired of hearing about Echo and her self-centered life that I wanted to close the book and walk away. But why did so many people think this book was so terrific? It had to get better, right? I also wanted to read about the secrets both of the main characters were harboring. And guess what? It actually turned out that the end of the book was the best part of the whole book so I am glad that I stuck with it so I got to read the secrets, I so desperately needed to know. At beginning of the book, we learn about Echo and her life with her father and her step-mom. She is suppressing a memory of what happened to her years ago with her mother and an incident which left scars on her body. This accident totally changed Echo and no one will tell her what happened. The only person who can help her is herself and doctors who are trying to get her to recall the memory. Her high school boyfriend likes to party and wants to take things to the next level with Echo and Echo is not ready for that step. Pressure is building and the school dances are coming up, so will Echo give in or not? Noah is a peer at school who has some of the same challenges as Echo and even though their worlds have never met before, Echo realizes this person who just walked into her life, just might be the person she has been missing. Noah and Echo who have lived in opposite sides of the tracks are now walking on the same sidewalk, seeing things through the same window. The secrets are exposed and the consequences are not as bad as might as you might expect, as someone is always there to help you pick up the pieces."You can live life to please everyone else or please yourself." Great quote.
