Imagine being a powerful wizard and not knowing that you hold these special talents? That’s exactly what happened to Ava and Hannah, two New Jersey seniors getting ready to graduate and enjoy their last summer before college. Ava was living a normal life: going to school, having a boyfriend and dealing with the normal pressures of being a teen. In walks Dalton and turns her world upside down. There is romance, drama and now this story is rolling. Dalton is a powerful wizard and the twins will find out the connection that they have with Dalton once they leave New Jersey and go to Shadow Hill with him. Leaving is not easy, the girls have lived in Jersey their wholes lives so emotions are running high. Hannah is also a wizard but she is more of a free-spirited individual where as Ava is more emotional so the two characters play off each other. Once they arrive in Shadow Hill, they learn why they had to go to there and they also learn about their past history. The girls learn some magic and it go rather fast as they train for what they must do. Great transitions in the writing and I enjoyed the wide variety of characters. Real good character development and although there were a lot of people in the book, I was able to keep track of them and they were all important. There were some options in the book where some of the characters could have been evil to each other, but the author chose to deal with the situation differently and I applaud that. That made the characters more adult-like instead of childish-selfish individuals. I was surprised at all the romance in this writing. There were times that I thought something dramatic was about to happen, only to have more romance come my way. I got tired of hearing about how she smelled. If you like a YA book about wizards and you like some romance, pick this up- you’ll enjoy it.I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
