My Never Ending List

Memoirs of a Hamster by Devin Scillian

Memoirs of a Hamster - Devin Scillian, Tim Bowers

I loved Memoirs of a Goldfish so I had to read this one. Told with the same quirky, sarcastic tone this hamster thinks his life is grand living inside his cage with all the essentials. Each day something occurs with Hamster and each day gets a two-page spread in the book with a huge picture and a detail recording of what occurred. When the little girl picks him up and kisses him, he thinks germs but he also gets yogurt drops and they soon become his favorite treat. Pearl the cat comes in and makes up this story about how fantastic the sunroom is with a sunflower seed staircase and yogurt drop flooring and Hamster was practically drooling. Buck the dog loves the sunroom too when Hamster asks him, so Hamster decides he has to see it for himself. “Question: Who’s going to eat every yogurt drop in the sunroom? Answer:ME!” So on Day Ten, Seymour escape plan goes in full swing.   By Day Twelve, guess who is making out his will? It’s a funny one and kids will laugh and feel for the little guy. Great illustrations and a book that you and the kids will want to read again and again.
