My Never Ending List

In Ruth's Memory: (Ruth Chernock Series)

In Ruth's Memory - Kim Scott I am so consumed again by this series. It's another one of my hairdryer books - I cannot seem to put the book down even to blow dry my hair. Teague has stepped up to raise Ruth’s children and his own in the Burghill house after the dust has settled with the passing of Ruth. Don’t think that everything surrounding the circumstances of that subject is laid to rest because in this novel, the story of Ruth and the ordeal of her passing is once again brought up and rehashed as new items are brought to life. Life in the Burghill house is running smoothly and the writing of Kim Scott makes the days and the seasons flow as if time were a flowing picture. The transitions between the seasons and the interactions between the characters as they grow up in the house make the characters seem ageless. Before you know it, these small children are at the age where they are entering courtship and the story becomes too riveting to put down. The characters are so captivating and interesting but the story does not stop there. The story is so much more as this story builds upon itself when past history comes into play. This is 1768 and these people take care of themselves, they most certainly do. It was a beauty alright and one you just have to read to see how this family handled what was brought into their house.
