My Never Ending List

Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall & Denver Moore

Same Kind of Different as Me - Ron Hall, Denver Moore

This is a true spiritual story that will definitely move you. Recommended to me by my sister-in-law she warned me that I would need tissues by the time I finished the book but I don’t think I have cried this much over a book in a long time. The story is centered upon two gentlemen whose unique friendship grows to extraordinary proportions. This interracial friendship is made up of Ron, who quickly becomes a successful art dealer and marries Deborah. Denver is a black, homeless man who flight to Texas has left him alone with dark memories.  Ron and Denver’s paths cross at the mission where Denver drops in and Ron and his wife Deborah volunteer. Denver, a closed individual dislikes the way Mr. and Mrs. Tuesday (Ron and Deborah) have now invaded his life with their smiles and their questions, yet he realizes that they are a constant, positive energy which now flows through the mission. Deborah is drawn to this mission; she’s had dreams about this particular mission and about a man who will bring life changing events in the future. The book is fast-paced, time passes quickly and I can’t speak enough of the writing. Full of emotions, I felt as if I truly knew the characters and their stories. This is a religious book as they go about their journey trying to help the individuals around them. Deborah pushes to expand the mission and she is successful, reaching out to whomever will come. When medicals issues invade Deborah’s life, the community she has created, reaches out to her. It’s a battle with highs and lows. Deborah is a fighter, continuing to create dreams Deborah never up as her body fights against her.   It’s faith and hope, these words Deborah holds onto as the harsh reality of her condition plagues his life.
